PLACEBO
BATTLE FOR THE SUN
"We made an album, which talks about desidion of life and living, step forward from darkness into lightning. But, it doesn't neccecerily mean that you have to turn back to darkness, because it exsists. I am optimistic when it is about future, and it is very exciting." Brian Molko

Recognisable for their eye-catching outfit, hard guitar riffs, Placebo are described as band which found themselfes great in glam version of Nirvana. It was founded in 1994. by singer/guitarist Brian Molko and bassist Stefan Oldsdal. Simply called Ashtray Heart, (just like a song which opens their album "Battle For The Sun") and under influence of masters like Sonic Youth, The Pixies or already mentioned Nirvana, Placebo signed record deal with Caroline Records, and their first album called same as band "Placebo", that was out in 1996. Album surprised British charts which let out "Nancy Boy" and "Bruise Pristine" as hits, and made band to play with reunited Sex Pistols, U2 and Weezer. In the beginning of same year, Placebo opened few concerts of Davie Bowie in Italy, France, Switzerland on his Outside tour, and as bit fan, Bowie invited personally Placebo to play on his 50th birthday party in New York's Madison Square Garden in 1997. Same year, Placebo signed for Virgin records and in the end of the year "Without You I'm Nothing" album was out. Relationship between Placebo and Bowie continued and next years, so they played with him in New York in 1999. and together version on song "Without You I'm Nothing" Bowie and the band was out in 1999. as a single. In 2000 Placebo's album "Black Market Music" was out, which is today their cult album. 2003. brought "Sleeping With Ghost" and world famous hit "The Bitter End", and in 2005. they published fenomenal "Meds" on which was the song "Broken Promise" with Michael Stipe from R.E.M..
Their 6th studio album "Battle For The Sun" published imidiatelly, and have shown that their place is on top of all post-punk bands with gothic tones. And even those who didn't pay to much attention they will say that Placebo is limited in their style, Placebo are definitelly famous for adressing their various emotional parts, broken relationships, while Brian Molko says many times that his songs are inspired by his own experiences and psychological disorders, as hisself and those he is related with.
It is not secred that he was having drug problems for many years, and that it was spoken about his sexual orientation, and that is among his life under spotlight humanity, and facing with human weakneses which came from every song key relation between the band and the fans. So, for all of you who like Placebo - continue to love them with "Battle For The Sun"!
