Nikki Sixx - The Heroin DiariesNikki Sixx, the cofounder of the one of the most legendary rock bands of the eighties - Mötley Crüe - will release autobiographical book "The Heroin Diaries - A Year In The Life Of A Shattered Rockstar" on 18th September. In the book Nikki Sixx offers a complete look into his own descent into drug addiction.
Nikki Sixx was always known for his recognizable visual imagery that goes back into his glam days in the 80's. With this book that is followed by soundtrack nothing has changed. Nikki this time mix disturbing drawings with scary photographs to illustrate disappearing that was happening in his mind and body. In realization of a visual part he co-operated with P.R. Brown who is known for his work exactly for Mötley Crüe and Marilyn Manson.
"The Heroin Diaries", which takes excerpts from his diaries during the deepest and darkest depths of his addiction along with recollections from friends, family and bandmates.
Although here is about autobiographical writings, diary, written by Nikki during the time of his drug addiction, this book comes with another interest - following soundtrack with 12 songs, one for each chapter of the book.

95/100

(Eleven Seven Music, 2007)

"The Heroin Diaries", CD that follows the same named book of Nikki Sixx is one of the best and the most complete albums I've heard recently and Nikki Sixx presented all his talents, beside playing bass guitar, in a full lights.
"The Heroin Diaries" soundtrack will touch everyone who is listening to it, no matter what kind of music (s)he usually listen to.
If you were personally ever in touch with drugs, or you handle with this problem with someone you love, the thing you owe to yourself is to listen to this album because it opens eyes and heart for so many emotions and circumstances related to addiction.
Nikki Sixx' problems with addiction aren't unknown. In the middle of the 80's he almost died and wild life of his band Mötley Crüe are detailed described in the book "The Dirt".
"The Heroin Diaries" is the book that talks about the darkest period of Nikkis drug addiction and after the book is written Nikki wrote the same named sountrack with vocalist James Michael and guitarist DJ Ashba. Soundtrack bring 12 songs, one for each chapter in the book that follow the theme of the chapter.
James Michael is a producer and composer for a long and, beside others, he worked with Alanis Morissette and The Scorpions and his influence you can clearly hear on the album, especially in the song "Tomorrow" that in particular parts sounds like a recognizable The Scorpions style. Ashba is a very good guitarist who on the album managed to show himself through a raw punk riffs the same as through the acoustic chords.
On this album is absolutely impossible to name any song and say something about it. After all, it wouldn't be fair to do it because they all together close a full circle and a story about addiction and healing.
But still, when you're listening to this album pay your attention on "Van Nuys", "Life Is Beautiful", "Pray For Me" and "Girl With Golden Eyes", you will be touched for sure.
